Transitioning hair ideas?

Hi! I would like to know a few quick ideas for transition hair. I'm growing my relaxer/perm out and haven't had one for atleast 5 months. Normally I wear braids(not cornrows, i hate cornrows lol) to let my hair grow, but I'm taking them out today and won't be able to get the braids back in for little while. Does anyone have any hair ideas that I could do with my hair while not damaging it until I get the braids back?? Also, how should I go about washing and conditioning it since it needs to be cleaned? Thanks!
